The Eight Avenue Baptist
Also the church has been led by 6 different pastors: Bill Thompson, the organizing Pastor; Bob Baldree, serving two different times for a combine time of over 25 years; Roy Sikes; David Norvell, who went on to become an Arm Forces Chaplain; John Boland; and the present pastor, Michael Vestal, who came to the church in November of 2004. The present Deacons serving the church includes: Benton Baggett; Bobby Duke; George Bounds; George Riddles; and J.T. Sandifer, charter member; and, James Sandifer.
The church maintain vital Ministries such as the Preaching of the Word several times a week, Sunday School, Men, Women, and children Auxiliaries as well as extension ministries to the community such as Ministering at the Mexia LTC Nursing Home.
The pastor, Michael Vestal serves as a Chaplain with the Marketplace Chaplains U.S.A. and at the local Hospital.
The Church is the home and seat of the Christian Life Bible Institute, a systematic Bible Study Degree program.
Also the Home of the "Therapon Counseling Center"(offering counsel and encouragement).
The Church is in Association with the Baptist Missionary Association of America, the Baptist Missionary Association of Texas and the Central Texas Baptist Missionary Association.
